The Annual ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty Reception took place on 12 October in the glittering splendour of Lancaster House, a building steeped in history.
Queen Victoria once remarked to the Duchess of Sutherland on her arrival “I have come from my house to your palace”. Winston Churchill gave a coronation banquet for the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II in the Long Gallery in June 1953. Now managed by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the House has been used for a number of top-level international summits.
The guest speaker for the evening was Dr Ruth McKernan CBE, Chief Executive of Innovate UK who gave an inspiring address on the Government’s backing for new battery technology, medicines and robots for harsh environments.
The Corporate Development Award was given to Rentokil Initial which has made 41 acquisitions around the world in the past year, mainly in the pest control sector. Chris Hunt, Head of M&A, accepted the award.
Cantab Asset Management were co-sponsors of the evening and were represented by David Saunderson, Chief Executive and Toby Allebon, Senior Associate Director (pictured below).
