Cantab Asset Management were proud to sponsor the Cambridge University Women’s Lacrosse Club in their Varsity match against Oxford. The first team won 9-8 and the reserves won 11-8.
The team includes five England international players: Katie Lehovsky, Amelia Miller, Julia Wise and co-captains Sophia Tamblin and Erica Wallace.
Despite the closeness on the score line, Julia Crerand scoring the winning point in the final five minutes, the match was not as close as the score suggests. Cambridge had a lot more shots and would have been winning comfortably, but the Oxford Keeper (who was awarded player of the match) kept the scores close. With only 10 minutes remaining Cambridge were trailing 8-7, but then Amelia scored the equaliser and Julia secured the win.
Earlier in the season, CUWLC secured their 11th BUCS Southern Premier title over 12 years, beating Oxford twice. The light blue team are currently unbeaten in the season.
Having won the Varsity match, CUWLC have now got their sights on the Championship Trophy. Cantab Asset Management extends a warm congratulations to all who contributed towards a most enjoyable day and wishes CUWLC the best of luck!
